This year, S’well had the incredible opportunity to partner with the Sundance Institute and present at their annual Film Festival. The 2017 festival is themed to bring attention to climate change, and we just had to join in the conversation. Our team packed it’s bags and headed out to snowy Park City with one mission: to bring S’well to Sundance and launch our 1 Million Bottle Project.
Last year, over 50 billion plastic water bottles were used in the US and this number keeps growing. Most of these bottles eventually end up in landfills and waterways, creating a significant threat to our environment. By participating in Sundance Film Festival, the 1 Million Bottle Project hopes to eliminate 1 million single-use plastic bottles from entering the environment.
We encouraged festival goers to be part of a beautiful solution by taking our pledge to go plastic-free. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic: we had over 6,000 attendees sign the pledge and join our movement.
Looking great and doing good called for a celebration. S’well fans stepped into our PHHHOTO booth to do a little Sundance dance and show off their new bottles. You can see all of the amazing PHHHOTOs here.
Throughout the weeklong celebration of the artistry of storytelling and film, we managed to sneak away and take in the sites of iconic Park City, which were perpetually blanketed in a fresh coat of snow.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the 1 Million Bottle Project! We were so overwhelmed with the Sundance community’s unwavering enthusiasm to hear about S’well’s message and mission. Wondering how you can do your part to #ReduceTheUse of plastic waste? Join the movement by purchasing your own S’well. Be part of a beautiful solution: we can make a big change in the world, by making small changes ourselves. It starts today.
