Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Ashley! One half of husband-and-wife filmmaking duo that specializes in handcrafted films for weddings and creative entrepreneurs.
Tell us about your #SwellAdventures.
When I married my husband, Tyler, I made him promise me a lifetime of adventure. And rightfully so, he’s upheld his end of that deal! When we started making plans for 2016, we knew we wanted to adventure somewhere fun. Ty had never been to Europe so we started looking at flights. I love Italy and knew if I could show him any country for his first European experience Italy would be the one!
Why did you choose that destination?
Initially, we chose Iceland because it was relatively inexpensive to fly into from the US and easy to navigate to other European countries from there. We chose Italy as our second stop because it’s one of my favorite countries!
Which S’well did you take with you?
We took the 25oz Smokey Quartz bottle from the Stone Collection.
What do you keep in your S’well?
Water! We did a lot of hiking, walking, and navigating around the cities of Iceland and Italy. You have to pay for water everywhere you go so we made sure to always fill up our bottles before we left our Airbnb.
What’s been your favorite adventure to date?
A few years ago we went on a Norwegian cruise and one of our stops was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We visited Dunn’s River Falls while we were there and that was by far one of the most adventurous things we’ve ever done together!
What are your other adventure/travel essentials?
Packing cubes save space and allow you to find exactly what you’re looking for without having to tear apart your whole suitcase. Compression socks help keep swelling down on long flights. Bug spray, especially if you’re traveling during the summer months, and a portable battery pack if you’re using your phone to take pictures or navigate you around the area you’re exploring!
Have any good adventure tips or tricks you’d like to share?
Sometimes it’s cheaper to stay in an Airbnb and buy food to make select meals (like breakfast) at home, rather than staying in a hotel and having to eat out for every meal. If you have a specific restaurant in mind, make sure you check and see if you can make a reservations ahead of time. Lastly, if you’re traveling by car on your adventures, make sure you’re aware of the traffic laws, speed limits, and road conditions!
What is the next #SwellAdventure on your bucket list?
South Africa! I spent a month in Cape Town 5 years ago and fell in love with the country. Ty visited 3 years ago and was immediately captivated by the beauty of the country. We hope to journey back together for the first time soon.
