City Harvest discovered 30 years ago that up to 40% of the food produced in the United States goes to waste. They began the food rescue process where they safely recover the surplus of food from restaurants, grocers, bakeries, farmers markets, corporate cafeterias, manufacturers and farms, and distribute it to people in need. We met up with the City Harvest team to help the food rescue process. The team was excited to spend time bonding and doing something good together.
We’re so proud to say that in our two trips we collected 155 bags of produce (5,950 lbs) and 30 bags of bread (410 lbs) coming out to a total of 6,360 lbs of food to be delivered within their network of soup kitchens, food pantries and community food programs which help New Yorkers facing hunger.
