Christmas time brings in a season for giving and we’re so lucky to have you all to give to! We’re especially thankful for the amazing brands that partnered with us to giveaway such amazing gifts. On the first day of Christmas, S’well gave a 9oz Sparkling Champagne bottle and Harry’s Winter Winston Set. We love Harry’s for many reasons, but mostly because they’re dedicated to providing for the guys who know they shouldn’t have to overpay for a great shave. Respect.

On the second day of Christmas, S’well gave a 9oz Silver Lining bottle and a Moscow Mule Carry On Cocktail Kit. If you couldn’t already tell from our S’well S’pirits post and Pinterest page, here at S’well, we love a good cocktail. This cocktail kit is perfect for mixing up your favorite drinks on the fly.

On the ninth day of Christmas, S’well gave a 9oz Tuxedo bottle and a Botkier New York Logan Crossbody bag. If you’re in need of a new purse or bag, search no more. The S’well ladies love Botkier, especially their backpacks.

On the tenth day of Christmas, S’well gave a 9oz London Chimney bottle and Retrosuperfuture Panama Intellect sunglasses. We’re currently obsessed with putting on our Retrosuperfuture sunglasses and blocking out the haters.

On the twelfth and final day of Christmas, we gave a $100 S’well gift card and a weekend stay at the new Tommie Hudson Square Hotel in NYC  with a meal for 2 at Harold’s Meat + Three. Gifts Dad Actually Wants

fathers day thumb

We’ve composed a Father’s Day Gift Guide with insight from the dads around our office, to give you an idea of the gifts dads actually want.

Greg, our COO and dad to Amelia & Victor, said, “Since both kids will be in college next year, what I really want is a DIY Smartphone Projector ($27) and London Chimney S’well ($25-45) to match.” For the techy dads, other mentioned gifts were Bose SoundLink® Color Bluetooth® Speaker ($129) and a Fitbit Charge HR ($150).

For the dads who are young at heart, you can’t go wrong with a playful pair of socks; we especially like these Paul Smith Socks ($30).

Leo, our Senior Web Engineer and dad of Celine & Zoey, wants a ticket to jet set with his S’well. He told us that, “The Turquoise Blue S’well reminds me to take my next vacation at a Caribbean beach.”

For the dads who reach for a stiff drink after a long day (don’t we all), we recommend the Copper Moscow Mule Mugs ($20) or if they like to get creative with their drinks, check out this Whiskey and Rum Making Kit ($75).

The Stone Collection is ideal for the active guy, as Gregg, our Key Accounts Sales Manager Amie’s dad says, “The Onyx S’well bottle fits perfectly in my bike for weekend rides with the family. I appreciate knowing that my bottle can come off the bike and into my golf bag to provide a cool refreshment on the course later in the day.”

If you still can’t decide, go for a classic gift like the Harry’s Father’s Day Shave Set ($40) and pair it with a Silver Lining S’well ($35).

Looking for a deal this Father’s Day? Our bottle of the month this June is the gender neutral Tahoe Dusk | Satin Collection at 15% off, while supplies last. If you’re a procrastinator living in NYC, swing by Rothman’s in Union Square where there are tons of S’well styles to choose from at our Summer pop up.

fathers day

SXSW #eeeeeats in ATX

In case you haven’t seen all of the excitement surrounding SXSW, the week long plus event is happening in our favorite city, Austin, Texas. The city is brimming with locals and tourists coming together for the common good of innovative ideas, technology, live music, film, food, you name it. S’well is in Austin for SXSW Interactive and you may have seen SXSW Limited Edition S’well bottles given out at the Spotify & Funny or Die houses, or maybe even SXGood Hub or in your VIP backpack at the Spring happy hour. We are taking over Austin right now- one bottle at a time #sxswell.

Seeing as the S’well team has some major foodies, we were able to find some time to to eat at some of the most impressive restaurants around Austin. A few of our favorites #eeeeeats were tacos at Veracruz All Natural & Torchy’s Tacos where we tried Migas Breakfast tacos. Migas is a popular Tex-Mex breakfast dish, consisting of a mix of scrambled eggs corn tortilla strips, onions, chile peppers, tomatoes and cheese, most often found in a breakfast taco. We felt like real locals trying them. Also a local Austin staple is Topo Chico, a mineral water that comes in this glass bottle that I had a packaging crush on (we even took ours home as a keepsake of Austin). And be sure to try a local favorite cocktail: Topo Chico mixed with local favorite vodka, Grapefruit Deep Eddy.

Breakfast Tacos

Next up is the infamous Texas BBQ. Austin has this reputation for having the best brisket, housed in food trucks with crazy, long lines that sell out before 1 pm. So clearly needing to see/eat all of the hype, I braved the line at La Barbecue on Saturday morning, getting there at 11:20 am and walking to the picnic table with a tray of heaping pounds of meat around 12:45 pm. The line isn’t as bad as you’d think because on Saturdays, you can pump free beer from a keg while you wait in the salty heat. $33 got us enough meat to feed a full family. We loved the brisket but overall everything was amazing and lived up to it’s reputation. In case you still aren’t full from piles of pork, swing by Gourdough’s for donuts made of crazy concoctions.

We even had time to try a few more foodie favorites: Qui, Odd Duck and Uchi. Qui has an outdoor patio, Pulutan, with cheaper eats than their normal tasting menu. Qui had great cocktails and small plates, but the most noteworthy dish was the cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich. Odd Duck had some of the most innovative flavor combinations and was very veggie friendly. The favorite being the Sunchoke tater tots with deviled egg, beets and drizzled in  dill oil with a house draft ginger beer Moscow Mule to wash it down on the patio. Uchi is the queen of sushi in Austin and is known for being pricey but if you go for the daily Sake Social Hour, there is a select menu with cheaper food and drink prices. $3 Sake, anyone?!

Odd Duck

Our final Austin food conquest was a big one- Whole Foods. The Whole Foods Headquarters is based in Austin so needless to say it’s the best of the best when it comes to Whole Foods. It’s HUGE with extra samples and a section for every food category you can think of. After aimlessly walking through the aisles and aisles of local food, we decided on the full blown sushi bar for a sashimi bowl and grabbed a smoothie on my our way out to sit in the large outdoors dining area.

So yes, SXSW is all about innovative thinkers and do-ers but also eaters. Don’t be afraid to gain a few pounds and definitely pack your stretchy jeans to ATX. Life is too short to say no to BBQ.
