Employee Appreciation Day

groupboat_thumb

It’s Employee Appreciation Day so we’d like to take this opportunity to humblebrag about how amazing #teamswell is. Simply saying that we have a “cool company culture” would be an understatement. Our team is epic all the way through — from design, production and operations to marketing, sales and accounting. We are lucky enough to work at a place where everyone is passionate about what they do, plus we genuinely like each other. Between gchats, book club, a fitness challenge in February, and a shared spirit for pizza, we’re all tight and that means everything in the workplace.

Want to get to know us better? Where there’s a will, there’s a way. We recently started posting a Snapchat series called “Inside the Bottle,” on which we host a Q&A with various members of #teamswell. Every week we’ll chat with a different staff member to get to know a little bit more about them and their role within the company. Add us on Snapchat and follow us on Twitter to get updates on new episodes and other happenings around the office.

Clearly, we’ve got great people and we’re proud of it. But what else does S’well have to offer? Try perks like Bagel Mondays, an open office space with a rooftop, Equinox memberships, volunteer opportunities, an annual team day (last summer we sailed around the island of Manhattan), Friday team lunches and a raging happy hour.  Better yet, we have the pleasure of creating and selling a beautiful and bad @$$ product that our customers truly love. Plus we’re helping the environment along the way. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Think you might be a good fit for #teamswell? Good news: we’re hiring! Check out our open positions here.

SXSW #eeeeeats in ATX

In case you haven’t seen all of the excitement surrounding SXSW, the week long plus event is happening in our favorite city, Austin, Texas. The city is brimming with locals and tourists coming together for the common good of innovative ideas, technology, live music, film, food, you name it. S’well is in Austin for SXSW Interactive and you may have seen SXSW Limited Edition S’well bottles given out at the Spotify & Funny or Die houses, or maybe even SXGood Hub or in your VIP backpack at the Spring happy hour. We are taking over Austin right now- one bottle at a time #sxswell.

Seeing as the S’well team has some major foodies, we were able to find some time to to eat at some of the most impressive restaurants around Austin. A few of our favorites #eeeeeats were tacos at Veracruz All Natural & Torchy’s Tacos where we tried Migas Breakfast tacos. Migas is a popular Tex-Mex breakfast dish, consisting of a mix of scrambled eggs corn tortilla strips, onions, chile peppers, tomatoes and cheese, most often found in a breakfast taco. We felt like real locals trying them. Also a local Austin staple is Topo Chico, a mineral water that comes in this glass bottle that I had a packaging crush on (we even took ours home as a keepsake of Austin). And be sure to try a local favorite cocktail: Topo Chico mixed with local favorite vodka, Grapefruit Deep Eddy.

Next up is the infamous Texas BBQ. Austin has this reputation for having the best brisket, housed in food trucks with crazy, long lines that sell out before 1 pm. So clearly needing to see/eat all of the hype, I braved the line at La Barbecue on Saturday morning, getting there at 11:20 am and walking to the picnic table with a tray of heaping pounds of meat around 12:45 pm. The line isn’t as bad as you’d think because on Saturdays, you can pump free beer from a keg while you wait in the salty heat. $33 got us enough meat to feed a full family. We loved the brisket but overall everything was amazing and lived up to it’s reputation. In case you still aren’t full from piles of pork, swing by Gourdough’s for donuts made of crazy concoctions.

We even had time to try a few more foodie favorites: Qui, Odd Duck and Uchi. Qui has an outdoor patio, Pulutan, with cheaper eats than their normal tasting menu. Qui had great cocktails and small plates, but the most noteworthy dish was the cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich. Odd Duck had some of the most innovative flavor combinations and was very veggie friendly. The favorite being the Sunchoke tater tots with deviled egg, beets and drizzled in  dill oil with a house draft ginger beer Moscow Mule to wash it down on the patio. Uchi is the queen of sushi in Austin and is known for being pricey but if you go for the daily Sake Social Hour, there is a select menu with cheaper food and drink prices. $3 Sake, anyone?!

Our final Austin food conquest was a big one- Whole Foods. The Whole Foods Headquarters is based in Austin so needless to say it’s the best of the best when it comes to Whole Foods. It’s HUGE with extra samples and a section for every food category you can think of. After aimlessly walking through the aisles and aisles of local food, we decided on the full blown sushi bar for a sashimi bowl and grabbed a smoothie on my our way out to sit in the large outdoors dining area.

So yes, SXSW is all about innovative thinkers and do-ers but also eaters. Don’t be afraid to gain a few pounds and definitely pack your stretchy jeans to ATX. Life is too short to say no to BBQ.
