We’re going to be honest; winter in New York City can be brutal. We’d love to let it go and say that the cold never bothered us anyway, but the cold is really starting to bother us. There’s no escaping the bone chilling cold, those gusts of wind that can sweep you off your feet or the feeling that it’s never going to stop snowing. Even still, team S’well has been braving the weather to explore the wonders of winter in New York City.
A stroll through Bryant Park is fitting for any season. But in the winter, the famous Josephine Shaw Lowell Memorial Fountain freezes over, stopping tourists and New Yorkers in their tracks. The icicles hanging over the granite fountain resemble a crystal chandelier.

Lucky for us, our new office is located conveniently close to The City Bakery, home to that famous hot chocolate you see everyone posting on Instagram. And we totally get the hype. The rich cocoa is not to be compared and warms our bellies when we can’t feel our fingers.

We’re a few weeks into the new year and maintaining the “New Year, New You” attitude. Aside from drinking our daily smoothies, Team S’well has been working on our fitness. Whether it is a yoga class, boot camp, spinning or lifting at the gym, we’ve always got a sleek stainless steel S’well water bottle with us. There’s nothing worse than when you reach for your water bottle mid-sweat, wanting a sip of refreshing water, left only to find that it’s warm. But since S’well bottles are made of insulated stainless steel, they will keep your drink cold for 24 hours, guaranteeing a thirst quenching sip till your workout is through.

S’well also provided the exclusive MBFW bottles for Rebecca Minkoff and customized bottles for VIP bags at Zimmermann and Mara Hoffman. We loved partnering with Mara Hoffman once again since our last meeting at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami. We are happy about new and on-going partnerships, and as a team that wants people to drink in style, we would not have spent the week any other way.

The S’well team is very excited to cheer on the amazing teams during this year’s World Cup. We believe that hydration is the key when playing the beautiful game of soccer.
Our stainless steel water bottle allowed us to keep our drinks cold during the whole game and even the carbonated drinks stayed fresh from start to finish thanks to our vacuum seal top.
The game lasted into overtime where the USA suffered quite a defeat against the Belgian team. Within minutes, Belgium scored two goals. It looked like there might be a glimmer of hope for the USA when Julian Green came back with a goal on the 107th minute. Unfortunately, they could not tie up the score and their quest for the World Cup came to a halt.
Even though it was a tough defeat, S’well was thrilled to see that many World Cup fans were also S’well fans. Our bottle was quite a popular accessory in the Brazilian heat. Fans carried the bottle that best represented their country’s colors.

S’well has a color for every team.
Staying hydrated during the World Cup is hard, especially in the tropical Brazilian weather. Having access to cold water throughout the day is essential in combating the effects of dehydration, heat stroke and heat exhaustion. In hot weather, we should each consume about 100 oz. of water a day. If you go by that rule, you would have to purchase nine plastic water bottles at the store every single day. Alternatively, you can just refill your 25 oz. S’well Bottle four times.
Whether you are a player or a fan, remember that hydration is very important for your health and well-being. Drink in style with bottles in colors that match your favorite team, and be sure to tune into the final World Cup game on Sunday, July 13!

World Water Day (March 22nd) is quickly approaching and to celebrate, S’well has collaborated with Able Made, a company which is devoted “to bringing communities together to create beautifully designed, exclusive products that fund social impact projects”. Together, S’well and Able Made have designed an exclusive bottle, directly supporting WaterAid’s efforts in Nicaragua. A collaborative social media contest provided fans of both organizations with an opportunity to join in the efforts. Three different designs were produced and the finalized product was voted on by S’well and Able Made supporters alike.
The winning “Thirsty for Change” bottle will help WaterAid to provide clean water to Auhya Pihni Village School in Nicaragua. The school’s current rainwater collection system has proven insufficient to last the entirety of their dry season. Additionally, proceeds from sales of these bottles will aid the production of hand washing stations in each classroom, as well as new bathrooms with separate facilities for boys and girls.
Auhya Pihni is a Miskitu Indian village in the North Atlantic Region of the Nicaraguan Caribbean of Nicaragua inhabited by 276 families (roughly 1,280 people). The three-room secondary school has an enrollment of 50 students (17 boys and 33 girls), while their primary school provides education to 364 students (203 boys and 161 girls).
With your purchase of a Limited Edition Able Made x S’well Bottle, you support WaterAid in America and their funding of this important project.
